This pendant is made with a gorgeous recreation of Russian Victoria Stone.  The pendant, including silver plated wire bail and setting, is approximately 60mm / 2.4 inches long.

Victoria Stone was a man-made material, manufactured by Dr. S. Iimori in Japan in the mid-60s.  At that time this beautiful, chatoyant material was marketed as Iimori Stone. Within a couple years the name of Iimori’s creation, started selling at the Tucson Shows as Victoria Stone.  Victoria Stone was a hot seller, and a renowned lapidary material through the mid 60s to around 1980.  Iimori passed away around 1980, and it is said that his formula was never passed on and for this reason Victoria Stone soon passed into history.

Over the years several attempts have been made to duplicated Victoria Stone, with little success.  Only recently have makers come close.  This is a recreation of the famous manmade Victoria Stone.

There is also some debate as to what the original material was made of; some folks claim that it is made of natural minerals fused together to reform into this feathery chatoyant material, while others believe it is more closely related to leaded glass.  Regardless of what it is made of, it is highly chatoyant with beautiful fan shaped swirls across the stone.  It is also quite rare - even the recreated versions.

The pendant will arrive in either a gift box or a small gift bag, depending on size, and it comes with a necklace.  Generally, we have 18" waxed cord necklaces (black and multiple earthy colors), 18" silver-tone, 18" bronze-tone and 20" silver-tone.  If you have a preference for packaging or necklace, please indicate this in the comments section of your order.  Otherwise, we will choose the option we feel best suits the pendant.
